On Sunday, April 7th, St. Mark's hosted the Vancouver Island Chamber Choir concert. It was a lovely one hour presentation of music celebrating this beautiful land we live on beginning with morning songs, followed by afternoon and evening. Many thanks to Ron Klusmeier for arranging this wonderful event. We raised over $1600 which will be divided between the choir and St. Mark's. Hopefully this is just the first of many visiting performers.
The Vancouver Island Chamber Choir is composed of Victoria-area singers who are dedicated to performing choral music from a variety of musical periods and styles from around the world. Founded in 2008, the choir was initially composed primarily of UVic Chamber Singers Alumni who wanted to continue singing in a fun environment with a high level of musicianship. Over the years the VICC has grown to a group of around 24 seasoned choral singers, many of them music teachers and/or multi-instrumental musicians. The Choir is directed by Brian Tate, well-known in Canada and internationally as an award-winning composer, arranger, and conductor.
