Prayer Chain: Phyllis Thompson - The prayer chain is a very important ministry within the parish. People who have health or other problems find strength in knowing they are being prayed for. It is a ministry that can involve parishioners who can no longer be active in the other ministries. Even people without faith or people from around the world can make requests.

Prayer Shawls: Ann Geboers - “Shawls ... made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles...” Written in 1998 by: Janet Severi Bristow Copyright ©2018
Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, graduates of 1997 Women’s Leadership Institute at Hartford Seminary, Connecticut gave birth to this ministry.
The Prayer Shawl ministry here at St. Mark’s was initiated and led by Sharon Pickard in 2008. In March 2009 Dorothy Roberts assumed the leadership until recent times. We have a small group of ladies with a love of knitting and/or crocheting who faithfully complete the shawls, praying blessings into every stitch. Upon completion the shawls are brought into church during a Service to be blessed by our Minister and congregation.
Shawls are packaged and stored in readiness for distribution as gifts to anyone in need of comfort, solace, or perhaps, in celebration of joy and thankfulness.
