Rev. Elizabeth Northcott invited the Parish of St. Mark to come to the church at sunset on Sunday, November 11. More than 20 people attended, as prayers and poems were recited in memory of the men and women who were killed or wounded in battle protecting our country and carrying out peace keeping duties throughout the world. In memory of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice at the end of World War 1, the church bell rang 100 times. Ten people rang the bell ten times at 4:30 pm.
After the ringing of the bell, people spoke of their memories of the war. It was a very moving experience. Let us thank God for the peace and tranquility we experience here in Qualicum Beach, due largely to those who gave their lives to protect ours.
