Today in our community we remember all the Saints. In my family, I remember especially my grandmother "Anne Grace" who was born on November 1st - All Saints Day. Anne was a "preacher's kid" and one of God's saints who went through life in service to others. She laughingly used to say that she did not become a person until she was 11 years old. I always thought this was strange until she mentioned a piece of legislation that was imposed on October 18th, 1929, when woemn were finally declared "persons" under Canadian law. This historic legal victory was due to the persistence of five Alberta women - Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney and Henrietta Muir Edwards.
Today, I remember my "famour five" Stoddart sisters... they are Charlotte, Bessie, Anne Grace, Emily and Margaret. I imagine you have your list too.... let us remember with thanks all those whom we have loved and now "rest in peace and rise in glory".
