Ah, Trinity Sunday! There are a few ancient Anglican traditions set for this day of worship in the church. First of all, the 'colour' of the day is "white". Here at St. Mark, you will notice that the hangings are "All Season" colours -- all the colours of the rainbow, but the Chalice and Paton are vested in white. White is the festive and celebratory colour that is presented and reminds us of joy!
The second thing that happens is that sometime in the liturgy (service) we must sing Hymn number 1 -- "Holy, Holy, Holy" -- for it's all about Trinity, you know. The last detail might be one of my own making...it's customary to have a guest preacher -- someone young enough to not know that to preach about Trinity is one of the most difficult sermons in the whole year!
For some reason, you have me as your preacher today -- so, if my sermon is convoluted and not easy to understand, think of this...The Rev. Ann Broomell writes this, "We are the People of God, the Body of Christ, the Temple of the Holy Spirit. We are energized by the life of God, we are the risen Christ in our world, we demonstrate the presence and work of the Holy Spirit"...in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit! Amen
