Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s mid-year vestry. We had a wonderful gathering and I wanted to give you some “Coles notes” about the results of our gathering.
- The year 2026 will see the 100th Anniversary of the Anglican Parish of St. Mark. Richard de Candole will chair a group of Council members in the planning of events for this wonderful occasion. On the committee are: Lilian Burrows, Lally Grauer; Michael King; Sue Smith; Sandy Morter. If you have ideas or would like to help out, please contact Richard de Candole.
- Our Treasurer, Wendy Carriere, reported that our financial situation in 2024 thus far, is much improved from that of 2023. At the moment we are still running a deficit of about $15,000 but this deficit, we believe, can be reduced before the years end.
- Wendy Carriere also did a calculation about the amount of financial assistance the parishioners of St Mark have contributed since the year 2016 – an amazing $207,000+ have been given to various agencies including PWRDF, local agencies working with youth and elders.
- Our music leadership has been greatly enhanced by our pianist Kathy Harper. In the months of January, February, (when Kathy is unavailable) we’ll be assisted by Simon Hiemstra who will be playing the organ. We are indeed richly blessed!
- Our final question of the meeting was to determine whether or not there is sufficient resources or energies to host the 2025 St Mark’s Community Fair. Much discussion was shared and at the end of the day, the vote to cancel the 2025 St Mark’s Community Fair was passed. However we also recognized that other ideas might come forward, especially those ideas for the Centenary of the Parish.
Blessings,
The Venerable Elizabeth Northcott
