On Saturday, October 12, St. Mark’s Church held a Day of Giving for hospitals and schools in Gaza and West Bank. In the midst of giving thanks for the plenty in our lives, we wanted to remember those suffering devastating loss and dealing with the most difficult conditions. We are so grateful to those who dropped by between ten and noon on Saturday morning to make their contributions and share a muffin and coffee. Altogether, with donations from the congregation, we were able to raise $3500.
The funds will go to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF), the national Anglican agency for humanitarian relief. PWRDF is operating a national emergency campaign to sustain the El-Ahli Arab hospital operating in war-torn Gaza and other hospitals and schools in West Bank, where increasing violence and instability are being felt. They are working with the Anglican diocese of Jerusalem which runs these vital resources.
If you wish to contribute, St. Mark is continuing its fundraising efforts until Sunday, October 20. You can bring a cheque or cash contribution to the church office, 138 Hoylake Rd. W. (just off Memorial Ave.) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3p.m., or go to https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E344492QE&id=58. Donations are tax deductible.
